RĂDĂUŢI. Rădăuţi, one the oldest places of Moldavia , is situated at the feet of the Obcinele Bucovinei, at an altitude of 374m from the sea level and at a distance of 37km from Suceava city. Rădăuţi was documentary certified in 1392 under the name of Radomir’s village.
Situated in a region with unrivalled monuments of feudal art, a region where many great rulers and voivods were buried, Rădăuţi was visited by many tourists along the time, because wether you want to go Putna or Suceviţa , Marginea or Arbore, you have to go through Rădăuţi.
It is known as the home of the Colibaba family, whose Kuty pottery is among the finest produced in Romania today. Kuty, whose name comes from a workshop in Ukraine, is partly descended from Byzantium. Its distinguishing characteristics are the colours, usually bright or blue-green and brown on a pale yellow ground, and the motifs, which include flowers and plants, mythical animals and people dancing or playing musical instruments.
