Touristic informations
CACICA.
Situated at
40 Km from Suceava is a nice village, which lies between sweet
mountains and
green forest. A strong community of catholic people lives here, in
special
Polish. Here is a second largest salt mine exploitation from
Europe, over
200 years old. Their first catholic church was underground at 30 meters
deep.
Also here, underground an orthodox chapel, many sculptures in salt, a
big
sport-hall and a small lake.
Opposite to the
mine, in 1904 was
built a new catholic church, St. Mary, now made at the rank of Basilica
Minora.
Behind the church it is the cave of St. Mary, as at Lourdes and inside
is a
famous icon, one of the three copies of Black Madonna from Chestohowa –
Poland.
